Frank finally turns off his calculator and shuts down his computer after 32 years at Crest. Finance director Frank Langstraat said goodbye to his work colleagues on Wednesday 26 February at a celebration lunch at Crest’s head office in Howden.
Frank started working for AVH Interbrick Limited on 1st May 1988 at Towerhouse, Fisher Gate in York, managing the accounts for the bricks and roof tiles. Frank was not only a talented accountant he had an interest in I.T. and computers and soon developed a new system for the business.
In 1990 Arnold van Huet set up Crest Building Products Limited and with Franks assistance started selling roofing felt and other building products. Crest became the first company based in the UK to start importing and distributing bricks from European manufacturers in Germany and Holland and later they expanded and started importing roofing tiles.
The business changed in 1999 to PVH Holdings and Crest Brick Slate and Tile Ltd became the trading company and due to further progress, the business started three roofing contractor company’s based in the South of England. The business was sold in 2018 and became part of the Brickability Group.
Arnold van Huet managing director at Crest paid tribute to Frank’s long working relationship with the business and expressed that their close working partnership had helped the company grow over the many years.
